In July 2010 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours Day, which included the work Allegory of Sculpture by Jan Claudius de Cock. The result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,011.94) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Claudius de Cock - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A sculptress in a workshop, which sold at auction in February 2024 for USD 21,420.00 (€ 18,720.50).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours Day durch, in der auch die Arbeit Allegory of Sculpture von Jan Claudius de Cock zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 6.011,94) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Claudius de Cock mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A sculptress in a workshop beobachtet, die im Februar 2024 für USD 21.420,00 (€ 18.720,50) versteigert wurde.
