In December 2017 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work The Temptation Of Saint Anthony by Jan Breughel II. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 187,500.00 (€ 211,003.78), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Breughel II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Five Senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Taste and Smell in November last year with an auction result of USD 8,634,000.00 (€ 8,363,847.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Temptation Of Saint Anthony von Jan Breughel II zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 211.003,78) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Breughel II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Five Senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Taste and Smell im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.634.000,00 (€ 8.363.847,72).
