This artwork by Jan Brueghel I achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2004. In the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction, the work A fountain at Spa with studies of elegant figures taking the waters and of two monks and a priest; and An elegant company drinking spring water (recto), Five figures seen from behind, and another figure (verso) sold for GBP 97,090.00 (€ 146,724.36) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Brueghel I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer landscape with tilt-carts in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,980,000.00 (€ 1,823,540.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Brueghel I erzielte im Juli 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings wurde die Arbeit A fountain at Spa with studies of elegant figures taking the waters and of two monks and a priest; and An elegant company drinking spring water (recto), Five figures seen from behind, and another figure (verso) für GBP 97.090,00 (€ 146.724,36) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Brueghel I erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Summer landscape with tilt-carts im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.980.000,00 (€ 1.823.540,25).
