Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden; and the Deluge by Jan Baptist van der Meiren. The price achieved of USD 11,950.00 (€ 12,124.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Baptist van der Meiren - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A capriccio of a Mediterranean port scene with a four-master, a town and mountains beyond; and A Mediterranean coastal landscape with merchants and herdsmen with a capriccio of a port and a mountain beyond, which sold at auction in April 2005 for GBP 26,400.00 (€ 39,075.84).
Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Baptist van der Meiren mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A capriccio of a Mediterranean port scene with a four-master, a town and mountains beyond; and A Mediterranean coastal landscape with merchants and herdsmen with a capriccio of a port and a mountain beyond beobachtet, die im April 2005 für GBP 26.400,00 (€ 39.075,84) versteigert wurde.
