Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work Design for an altarpiece or illustration with Saint Jacob of Compostella by Jan Adam Kruseman for NLG 936.16 (€ 398.26). This price was achieved in the auction Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of NLG 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Adam Kruseman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rebecca met de geschenken van Eliëzer: an oriental beauty in October 2007 with an auction result of EUR 38,650.00.
