Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Surf Watchers by Jamie Wyeth was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 275,000.00 (€ 244,857.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jamie Wyeth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pumpkinhead–Self-Portrait in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,690,000.00 (€ 1,517,736.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Surf Watchers von Jamie Wyeth kam im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 275.000,00 (€ 244.857,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jamie Wyeth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pumpkinhead–Self-Portrait im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.690.000,00 (€ 1.517.736,87).
