Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Philip Nowell (c.1806-1853), seated in an interior, with Windsor Castle beyond by James Warren Childe was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2014. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,576.52) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by James Warren Childe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Admiral John Jarvis Tucker, in dress uniform of blue coat with gold-bordered white facings and gold epaulettes; sky background in July 2004 with an auction result of GBP 4,541.00 (€ 6,862.45).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Philip Nowell (c.1806-1853), seated in an interior, with Windsor Castle beyond von James Warren Childe kam im August 2014 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.576,52) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Warren Childe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Admiral John Jarvis Tucker, in dress uniform of blue coat with gold-bordered white facings and gold epaulettes; sky background im Juli 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.541,00 (€ 6.862,45).
