Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations, which included the work The iconoclasts of the Middles Ages by James Stephanoff. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,604.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Stephanoff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Viewing at Dulwich Picture Gallery, which sold at auction in September 2012 for GBP 4,000.00 (€ 5,019.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit The iconoclasts of the Middles Ages von James Stephanoff zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.604,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von James Stephanoff mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Viewing at Dulwich Picture Gallery beobachtet, die im September 2012 für GBP 4.000,00 (€ 5.019,29) versteigert wurde.
