Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Unknown by James Nixon was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver and Plate and Icons auction at Christies in London in September 2006. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 400.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 456.00 (€ 672.70). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Nixon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young gentleman, facing right in blue coat with black collar and gold buttons, yellow waistcoat and frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 7,984.70).
