Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unknown by James Nixon was sold in the Kinross House, Scotland And Property Removed From The London Residence of Mrs. Winston Spencer Churchill auction at Christies in London in March 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 919.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James Nixon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young gentleman, facing right in blue coat with black collar and gold buttons, yellow waistcoat and frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 7,984.70).
