In June 2004 Christies in New York held the auction THE DORIS DUKE COLLECTION, which included the work Cows on a lane in a landscape by James MacDougal Hart. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,365.00 (€ 6,868.38), 67% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James MacDougal Hart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Loon Lake, Adirondacks in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 119,500.00 (€ 101,563.83).

Im Juni 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion THE DORIS DUKE COLLECTION durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cows on a lane in a landscape von James MacDougal Hart zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.365,00 (€ 6.868,38) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James MacDougal Hart erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Loon Lake, Adirondacks im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 119.500,00 (€ 101.563,83).
