Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled, c. 1940 by James Hamilton Brown was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 625.00 (€ 709.07). Admittedly, works by James Hamilton Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Photogram), Vers 1940 in November 2015 with an auction result of EUR 4,750.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled, c. 1940 von James Hamilton Brown im September 2017 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 625,00 (€ 709,07) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Hamilton Brown auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Photogram), Vers 1940 im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 4.750,00.
