In December 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work The night before Christmas by James Crawford Thom. The result of USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,155.33) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Crawford Thom - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Returning from the wood in winter, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 4,112.50 (€ 5,957.47).

Im Dezember 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit The night before Christmas von James Crawford Thom zur Versteigerung kam.
