In April 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish Pictures: Edinburgh Assembly Rooms, which included the work Boy With Drawing Paper by James Cowie. The auction ended at the price of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,784.77), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Other works by James Cowie have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2008 the work The Studio was auctioned for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,561.44).
