Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Oxted mill, Surrey by James Burrell Smith for GBP 58.75 (€ 85.11). This price was achieved in the auction British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 250.00 – 350.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Burrell Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).
