Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work Figures on a bridge beside a waterfall by James Burrell Smith. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 822.50 (€ 1,378.94), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Burrell Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures on a bridge beside a waterfall von James Burrell Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 822,50 (€ 1.378,94) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Burrell Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.715,77).
