Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2002 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations, which included the work Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire by James Burrell Smith. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,705.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Burrell Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Burrell Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.715,77).
