Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Tasman. 2 by James Boswell was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 875.00 (€ 1,025.41). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Boswell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled, 1959, which sold at auction in March 2013 for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,260.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Tasman. 2 von James Boswell im März 2017 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 875,00 (€ 1.025,41) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von James Boswell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled, 1959 beobachtet, die im März 2013 für GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.260,05) versteigert wurde.
