Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street, which included the work A Westmorland Farm by James Bateman. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 29,163.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Bateman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The orchidaceae of Mexico and Guatemala, London, 1843, which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 52,920.00 (€ 62,255.34).
