Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2007 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British & Continental Paintings, which included the work Merlin And Lancelot, An Incident From La Morte D'Arthur by James Archer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,478.06), 15% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Archer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Betrothal of Robert Burns and Highland Mary in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 74,090.00 (€ 108,169.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2007 führte Sothebys in Olympia die Auktion British & Continental Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Merlin And Lancelot, An Incident From La Morte D'Arthur von James Archer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.760,00 (€ 8.478,06) und damit 15% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Archer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Betrothal of Robert Burns and Highland Mary im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 74.090,00 (€ 108.169,06).
