In February 2005 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES, which included the work The first rose of Summer by James Archer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,566.14), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Archer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Betrothal of Robert Burns and Highland Mary in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 74,090.00 (€ 108,169.06).

Im Februar 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit The first rose of Summer von James Archer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.566,14) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Archer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Betrothal of Robert Burns and Highland Mary im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 74.090,00 (€ 108.169,06).
