Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Waves Crashing On The Foreshore by James Aitken was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 360.00 (€ 533.54). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Aitken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Ladies Pool, Portrush, which sold at auction in May 2006 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,926.77).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Waves Crashing On The Foreshore von James Aitken im Juni 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 360,00 (€ 533,54) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von James Aitken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Ladies Pool, Portrush beobachtet, die im Mai 2006 für GBP 1.320,00 (€ 1.926,77) versteigert wurde.
