Auction result misses estimated price range
In May this year a collector was able to acquire the work Billingsgate; Girl with Bowl by James Abbott McNeill Whistler for USD 701.25 (€ 658.20). This price was achieved in the auction Discovery on Sunset at Bonhams in Hong Kong and was even below the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,200,000.00 (€ 1,063,170.02).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Billingsgate; Girl with Bowl von James Abbott McNeill Whistler für USD 701,25 (€ 658,20) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Discovery on Sunset bei Bonhams in Hong Kong erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800,00 – 1.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Abbott McNeill Whistler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Whistler Smoking im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.200.000,00 (€ 1.063.170,02).
