Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings & Sculpture, which included the work A Classical Portico With An Elegant Company Gathered By A Fountain by Jakob Ferdinand Saeys. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,405.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Jakob Ferdinand Saeys have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2015 the work A capriccio of a palace terrace with a family of mendicants in the foreground, a pasha and his retinue beyond was auctioned for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,720.80).
