The »bidding war« ended at EUR 8,750.00 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques Carabain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Constantinople in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 144,000.00 (€ 213,688.76).

Die Arbeit Townspeople in a sunlit street von Jacques Carabain wurde im November 2011 in der Auktion Old Masters and 19th Century Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 8.750,00 und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacques Carabain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Constantinople im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 144.000,00 (€ 213.688,76).
