The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,000.00 (€ 33,250.21), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacques de Claeuw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still-Life Of Oysters, Grapes, Wine And Other Fruits, which sold at auction in July 2014 for GBP 55,000.00 (€ 69,372.29).
