A top price for Jacob van Doordt - as previously expected
In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Glass, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Unknown by Jacob van Doordt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,887.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Unknown is the most expensive artwork by Jacob van Doordt that we have observed at auctions so far.
