Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Battle Between The Israelites And The Hordes Of Amalek (Exodus Xvii; 8-16) by Jacob Savery I was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 32,500.00 (€ 30,003.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Savery I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A winter landscape with peasants and cattle by a farmstead, with skaters on a frozen river beyond in December last year with an auction result of GBP 554,400.00 (€ 625,863.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Battle Between The Israelites And The Hordes Of Amalek (Exodus Xvii; 8-16) von Jacob Savery I im Januar 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 32.500,00 (€ 30.003,69) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Savery I erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A winter landscape with peasants and cattle by a farmstead, with skaters on a frozen river beyond im Dezember letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 554.400,00 (€ 625.863,60).
