Despite a disappointment, a good price for Jacob Riis
This work of art by Jacob Riis could be acquired at Christies in New York in July 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the MoMA: Tracing Photography's History auction, the work Home of an Italian Rag-Picker, Jersey Street, 1894 changed hands for USD 1,000.00 (€ 854.26) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Despite this disappointing result, Home of an Italian Rag-Picker, Jersey Street, 1894 is the most expensive artwork by Jacob Riis that we have observed at auction so far.
