Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The tower of Kostverloren on the river Amstel by Jacob van Ruisdael was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 277,200.00 (€ 260,183.97). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob van Ruisdael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wooded landscape with a man and two dogs on a path, a cottage beyond in July last year with an auction result of GBP 3,382,500.00 (€ 4,039,305.77).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The tower of Kostverloren on the river Amstel von Jacob van Ruisdael im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 277.200,00 (€ 260.183,97) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob van Ruisdael erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A wooded landscape with a man and two dogs on a path, a cottage beyond im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.382.500,00 (€ 4.039.305,77).
