Upper estimate price exceeded by 42 %.
In December 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A Couple Playing Backgammon by Jacob Duck. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 25,449.88), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Duck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Allegory of Faith in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 542,500.00 (€ 391,131.94).
