In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work H.M.S. Victory; and The Linlithgowshire by John Millington. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 763.75 (€ 1,064.10), 27% above the upper estimate. Other works by John Millington have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,594.42) in May 2005 for the work Blackfriars Bridge with St. Paul's in the distance.
