Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2006 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art including The Studio of Humphrey Jennings, which included the work Rye Harbour, East Sussex by John Joseph Bellman. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 204.00 (€ 298.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Joseph Bellman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunlight beach in August 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,838.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art including The Studio of Humphrey Jennings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rye Harbour, East Sussex von John Joseph Bellman zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 204,00 (€ 298,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Joseph Bellman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunlight beach im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.920,00 (€ 2.838,27).
