Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Unknown by Ivan Winberg. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,523.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivan Winberg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Young Russian Nobleman With Forward-Combed Dark Hair, In Silver-Piped Dark Green Coat With Gold-Figured Red Collar, Gold Epaulettes With The Cypher of Tsar Nicholas I And Aiguillettes, Wearing The Breast-Star of The Imperial Russian Order of St. Al, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,512.60).
