In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work H.M.S. Marlborough going into action at Jutland by Irwin John David Bevan. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,135.25 (€ 1,703.29), 62% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Irwin John David Bevan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Two Protaganists (Illustrated); And An Unequal Struggle sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,851.26).

Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit H.M.S. Marlborough going into action at Jutland von Irwin John David Bevan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.135,25 (€ 1.703,29) und damit 62% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Irwin John David Bevan; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Two Protaganists (Illustrated); And An Unequal Struggle im November 2006 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.920,00 (€ 2.851,26).
