Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Young Pondo Man (Framed) by Irma Stern was auctioned at Bonhams in March this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 327,900.00 (€ 373,049.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Irma Stern - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lelemana Dance, which sold at auction in October 2021 for GBP 1,222,750.00 (€ 1,448,628.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Young Pondo Man (Framed) von Irma Stern kam im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 327.900,00 (€ 373.049,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Irma Stern mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lelemana Dance beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für GBP 1.222.750,00 (€ 1.448.628,51) versteigert wurde.
