This artwork by Ian Houston achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2006. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Thames Sunset, Chelsea sold for GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,802.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ian Houston; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot On the North Norfolk Coast sold at auction in February 2002 with the realized price of GBP 1,880.00 (€ 3,067.97).
