Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Jiangnan Village by Huo Genzhong was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 62,500.00 (€ 7,248.84). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Huo Genzhong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Town by the Lakeshore, which sold at auction in May 2018 for HKD 237,500.00 (€ 25,947.94).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Jiangnan Village von Huo Genzhong im November 2019 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 62.500,00 (€ 7.248,84) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Huo Genzhong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Town by the Lakeshore beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für HKD 237.500,00 (€ 25.947,94) versteigert wurde.
