Description
HUANG ZHOU (1925-1997) Two horses Scroll, mounted and framed, ink on paper 67.3 x 136 cm. (26 1 ⁄ 2 x 53 1 ⁄ 2 in.) Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist Dated thrid month, bingyin year (1986) Dedicated to Jianwen and madam Xueping NOTE: The recipient is Xu Xueping, whose father, Xu Dengke, is a famous overseas Chinese leader in Singapore who has a good relationship with Huang Zhou and has a good collection of his works.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June this year Christies in Paris held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Two horses by Huang Zhou. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 302,400.00 (€ 35,335.38), 21% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Huang Zhou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Xinjiang Dance in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 4,840,000.00 (€ 498,292.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two horses von Huang Zhou zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 302.400,00 (€ 35.335,38) und damit 21% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Huang Zhou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Xinjiang Dance im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 4.840.000,00 (€ 498.292,10).
