Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Chrysanthemums by Huang Shanshou was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 90,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 302,400.00 (€ 32,376.66). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Huang Shanshou - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tasting Lychee; Xie An And Singers; Playing Qin; Princess Sleeping, which sold at auction in June 2021 for HKD 1,127,500.00 (€ 122,475.73).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Chrysanthemums von Huang Shanshou im April 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 90.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 302.400,00 (€ 32.376,66) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Huang Shanshou mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tasting Lychee; Xie An And Singers; Playing Qin; Princess Sleeping beobachtet, die im Juni 2021 für HKD 1.127.500,00 (€ 122.475,73) versteigert wurde.
