In November 2005 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century Chinese Art, which included the work Lady in reading by Huang Dashen. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 228,000.00 (€ 24,946.56), 52% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Huang Dashen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of a Lady sold at auction in October 2004 with the realized price of HKD 358,500.00 (€ 36,114.39).

Im November 2005 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century Chinese Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lady in reading von Huang Dashen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 228.000,00 (€ 24.946,56) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Huang Dashen; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait of a Lady im Oktober 2004 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 358.500,00 (€ 36.114,39).
