Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pink Phlox by Howard Russell Butler was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 688.00 (€ 623.64). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howard Russell Butler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A street scene, Cuantla, Mexico in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,273.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pink Phlox von Howard Russell Butler im Juni 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 688,00 (€ 623,64) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Howard Russell Butler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A street scene, Cuantla, Mexico im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.935,00 (€ 8.273,64).
