Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Okamotoya Iwakoshi (Iwakoshi from the House of Okamoto) by Hosoda Eisho. The price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 41,214.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hosoda Eisho - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shizutamaya Shitsuka (The Courtesan Shitsuka Of The Shizutama-Ya House), which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 100,000.00 (€ 85,157.11).
