Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Simpson and his Donkey by Horace Moore-Jones was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in November 2003, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - AUD 2,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at AUD 6,462.50 (€ 3,898.51). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Horace Moore-Jones - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of Sydney, c.1898, which sold at auction in August 2021 for AUD 12,300.00 (€ 10,423.73).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Simpson and his Donkey von Horace Moore-Jones im November 2003 bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – AUD 2.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit AUD 6.462,50 (€ 3.898,51) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Horace Moore-Jones mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit View of Sydney, c.1898 beobachtet, die im August 2021 für AUD 12.300,00 (€ 10.423,73) versteigert wurde.
