Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price

The work 'What a lot of water' by Honor Charlotte Appleton was worth GBP 2,270.50 (€ 3,213.38) to a buyer in December 2004. This price was achieved in the auction British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 600.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Honor Charlotte Appleton; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Magical daydreams of Christmas sold at auction in December 2004 with the realized price of GBP 3,824.00 (€ 5,412.01).
