The work Sir Hubert von Herkomer, R.A., three-quarter-length, standing, wearing the Slade Professor's gown and holding a mortar-board by Herman Gustave Herkomer was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,230.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Sir Hubert von Herkomer, R.A., three-quarter-length, standing, wearing the Slade Professor's gown and holding a mortar-board is the most expensive artwork by Herman Gustave Herkomer that we have observed at auctions so far.
