In November 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation, which included the work Portrait Of An Artist by Herman Gustave Herkomer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,720.42), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Herman Gustave Herkomer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sir Hubert von Herkomer, R.A., three-quarter-length, standing, wearing the Slade Professor's gown and holding a mortar-board, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,230.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im November 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of An Artist von Herman Gustave Herkomer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.720,42) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Herman Gustave Herkomer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sir Hubert von Herkomer, R.A., three-quarter-length, standing, wearing the Slade Professor's gown and holding a mortar-board beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.230,17) versteigert wurde.
