In May 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Art, which included the work The negotiation by Herman Frederik Carel ten Kate. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 15,625.00 30% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Herman Frederik Carel ten Kate - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pay Day, which sold at auction in October 2007 for EUR 38,650.00.

Im Mai 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The negotiation von Herman Frederik Carel ten Kate zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 15.625,00 und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Herman Frederik Carel ten Kate mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pay Day beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für EUR 38.650,00 versteigert wurde.
