Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art Online, which included the work A Mutual Admiration by Herbert William Weekes. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,250.00 (€ 1,977.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert William Weekes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Of His Flock in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 98,272.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Mutual Admiration von Herbert William Weekes zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.250,00 (€ 1.977,33) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Herbert William Weekes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two Of His Flock im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 79.250,00 (€ 98.272,38).
