Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Mercedes (Carles) Matter by Herbert Matter for USD 750.00 (€ 637.00). This price was achieved in the auction Legends, Landscapes, and Lovelies | Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert Matter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work PKZ in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,693.66).
